After her first vinyl toys were released by NTF, Camile Rose Garcia vowed not to make any more vinyl out of concern for the environment. So vinyl is out and plush is in. At SDCC, she showed two new plush toys from PITCO (Prosthetic Industries Toy Company) with the tag line "So much fun, it hurts." There are apparently at least two more designs (trees) in the works. Release date: "soon."

I can't wait!!! Needless to say, my eyes will be glued to the PITCO website.

Oh my god, I'm so excited. Thankies for the update, sweets. <3 Seriously, I can't get enough of plushies and Camille's work, so this is double the amazingness.

(You are going to love my new room! I thought of you as I was unpacking my stuff and decorating it. I bought special cubby shelves for all of my vinyls, plushies and dollies... and the fun hasn't even begun yet! I'll be making dozens of paintings to hang around my room and the rest of the apartment. I can't wait to show you how it looks. I think you'd like it all. ^^)

That makes two of us! When I first heard she was going to make plush, I about peed myself, ha. You know how much I adore Camille's art and plush. The two together are a dream!! So much time had passed since the news broke with no word of anything in the pipeline that I was beginning to question if they'd ever come to fruition. Thankfully Camille kept her word and her plush is on it's way (hopefully) to our homes soon!

Ahh, your room sounds like it's going to look amazing! So many beautiful things hanging on the walls and cute things sitting in cubbies. I look forward to seeing pics! <3

Its funny I find some of that work some ware between the macabre and curiosity. Throwing my mind back to glimpses of late 20 flappers to the 30’s back to a time when a grim fairytale was more like images I have seen of the movie pans labyrinth when fairytales were there to scare and teach a lesson, much different then nowadays when at the end monsters and people sit down together for milk and cookies. What a sugar coated unreal world that is. Keep in touch and keep up with the info pretty lady can’t wait to see how your collection is to grow…Jamie

I think Camille's work definitely falls into the macabre category. I think that aspect, along with the contrasting candy colors (in her paintings .. lots of pink) is what attracts most people to her work. The candy colors draw you in which mask the sinister commentary going on in the artwork. And I do believe she is inspired by classic fairytales, amongst other things. Good eye!

Some times the mind works some times I can even articulate it, other times I am brain dead! but I alway enjoy your posts.

Haha, I think we all have those moments. I have more than I care to admit!

But ditch the vinyl?? Aahhh, I really want to as I think we should all be more environmentally conscience. But like you said it's all so damn cute! If it makes you feel any better, I haven't bought toys in months. I've been obsessed with acquiring clothes for my plastic Blythes! .. haha. I'm hopeless!

Haha don't worry - whatever makes you happy!! I think there are far more harmful things than toys which actually bring a lot of good to the world :D xx
