everyone meet camille rose! she is a "night flower" blythe given to me as a gift from Lauren for my birthday last month! isn't she beautiful!? i named her after one of my favorite artists, camille rose garcia. however, if you know me, you already knew that. i'm still stunned that someone i've never met in person (though whom i consider one of my dearest friends) would buy me such a wonderful gift!! i can't thank lauren enough for giving me my very first blythe. it's something i'll never forget and camille rose will always have special meaning to me. to me, she represents the good in the world: love, friendship, and a giving heart.
it's funny, i find myself just staring at her throughout the day. her dark hair, beautiful pale skin, and gorgeous big eyes are transfixing. it's still hard to believe she's mine. i have admired lauren's collection for so long and have had many conversations of my wanting to start my own, but i could never save up for one. vinyl toys have had me hooked for over a year now and most of my extra spending money has been going towards the next "new release." also, subconsciously, i think i didn't purchase a blythe knowing full well that once i seen one in person, i'd become obsessed with them and the last thing i needed was to become enthralled with yet another pricey hobby. however, i've become somewhat bored with the vinyl scene and have decided to cut back on my collecting. within a few months my collection will be reduced by half after i sell off a few things which means ... i'll now have room for more blythes!!
i thank miss lauren a million times over for giving me the kick in the butt i needed! ^___^ i look forward to learning about blythes, customizing tips (for starters, how do i straighten her hair?), and getting to know other collectors. now the question is, which one do i buy my mom for her birthday in two weeks?? she, too, wants to start collecting (i have the raddest mom ever!) and wants one that looks the complete opposite of camille rose. she want a blonde or light brunette. any suggetions would be appreciated!
i finally got someone to help me take photos of my gifts this afternoon. miracles do happen! my mom made it known she wasn't too thrilled about having to lug my stuff into the living room (mainly due to her injured shoulder - more on that later), but she did and i'm ever so grateful to her (even though the shots didn't come out too well). damned camera! >.< i seriously need to invest in a new one.
first, is a gift from my good friends from oregon, kara + j0nah. they picked it up on their trip to colorado last month and i couldn't been more surprised and thankful for such a sweet gesture. this is one of those books i've had my eye on for quite some time, but would never break down and buy it for myself. i suppose there was a reason why i resisted. ^_^ thanks you two!!
next, is a myriad of gifts from the irish wonder simply known as maz, but whom i like to refer to as mazzy (or hoe, haha). mazzy went all out with my gifts handmaking 85% of them! i was stunned as item after item was pulled out of the box. it's seemed like a bottomless pit of happy gifts: a canvas, three handmade plush, two dunnys (friends with you + tokidoki), a small TADO alabama sugar qee, stickers, badges, candy (white chocolate + parma violets .. mmm!), two bags of marshmallows (my favorite!!), a

being the enthusiastic TADO fan that i am, my first inclination was to buy it. however, at the time suni wasn't doing well and the majority of my money was going toward vet bills and medication. i just couldn't swing £20 + shipping at the time. i had to prioritize. i figured i'd buy it when i had extra money. no big deal. so imagine my surprise yesterday when the mail arrived and i opened the padded envelope to find this tee inside!! i was stunned. my lovely friend, marion, sent it to me as an early birthday gift! she's such a sweetheart! actually, from what the note said this is only half of my gift. the girl is crazy!
she's always sending me something whether it be handmade plush or a parcel of U.K. treats. i certainly don't feel deserving of any of it. marion and i recently came to know each other this year through vinyl toy message boards and our mutual obsession with toys, plush, and most importantly, TADO. despite living in separate countries and growing up in completely different cultures, we have a lot in common and get along really well. i have no doubt we'd be the best of friends if we lived near each other.
along with the tee was a small note with this name tag inside (haha). it's a nickname given to me by mike + katie (TADO) derived from one of my board names. she suggested i wear it to cannibal funfair and i just might do that! mike + katie will get a good laugh from it.
