I purchased this lovely six inch wooden sculpture from Rotofugi Gallery back in the beginning of July. Thanks to Mr. Ketner and Mr. Rotofugi himself, Kirby Kerr, arrangements were made for me to get my hands on anything of my choice. Rather than opting for a painting, I bought this beautiful sculpture as I thought it was a perfect translation of Jeremiah's characters from 2D to 3D. It's as if it jumped right out of one of his paintings! it's absolutely beautiful and serene. I fell for it as soon as I saw it. The plan is to house her in a box frame next to my forthcoming Ketner painting. Until then, she sits happily in my Bertby cabinet amongst the vinyl toys and plush.
I uploaded this to Flickr and thought I'd share it with those of my Vox friends who are semi-voyeurs like me. I love to see photos of where people live. Their decor and collections reveal part of their personality. My decor is obviously that of colorful cuteness. Japanese pop art is a heavy influence to the kind of art and toys I collect. It makes me smile. Now post a photo of your desk or work space!

When I said, "My foot is slipping,"
your love, O LORD, supported me.
When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought joy to my soul. Psalm 94:18-19
Thank you Lord for giving me strength and reassurance.
I give all that I am to do Your will.
Show me the way.

i arrived home from class on monday to find this beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for me. the card read as follows ...
have an awesome day filled with fun + cake!
love you lots!! whoooohaaarrrr!! m+k xxx
i then checked my email to find this lovely drawing from jeremiah ketner! talk about being blown away. he said he saw it was my birthday on myspace and thought he'd draw a little something for me. how sweet is he!? i was (and still am) quite taken back by the sweet gestures given by my two (or three) favorite artists. i feel incredibly blessed having these individuals in my life!
hooray for art bringing people together!
snapped a shot of my jeremiah ketner pieces as they appear in my bertby cabinet. i don't have enough vertical space right now to display him wearing his helmut, so for now it'll have to remain seated at his side. i was able to somewhat capture the gold iridescent finish if you look closely at the arms. i just don't think my tiny digital is capable of capturing that specific detail. oh well. just take my word for it. the small piece standing infront is a funny club custom i commissioned jeremiah to do for me last year. as always, he did a wonderful job. like the teddy troop, this piece also has an iridescent finish except this one has more of a silver toned hue to it. his work makes me so happy.
i received an email from him yesterday which included a link to his flickr page of all new work. he'll also be selling a limited run of litho prints in the near future. i need more walls!
my beautiful teddy troop custom by jeremiah ketner for the teddy troop invasion show held at rotofugi last month finally arrived! it's one beautiful piece of 10" vinyl. the subject title of this post is the title of the piece. and like most customs, photos don't do it justice. the details are just amazing. the more i stare at it, the more i see. what's so great about custom pieces besides the fact they're one of a kind, are faint brush strokes and ever so slightly raised paint that are detectable upon close inspection. i love that aspect of any hand painted item. it gives it a somewhat organic feel.
i planned on taking photos with my digital, but the battery wasn't charged and i'm too impatient to wait for it to be ready. besides, kirby's studio shots are a lot better than anything my camera could ever take. it's really all about good lighting though which is something i'm lacking right now. various angle shots can be found here. the only thing the photos were unable to capture, however, is the gold, iridescent finish that jeremiah applied to the entire surface. it adds such a subtle lushness to the overall look. it really makes the piece pop.
in other news, suni is doing much better since friday. she had a few rough days, but her medication must've kicked in because her breathing has improved considerably. i'm praying she'll prove dr. dickie wrong and live well past christmas. dogs can be incredibly resilient especially when they're loved as much as suni is. i swear i sometimes catch her smiling. i'm not going to get my hopes up though. i know better than to do that. but she's a little fighter and i wouldn't be surprised if she hangs in there. :____:
i have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. yay. it's with a doctor i've never met with a name i can't even pronounce. that always makes me nervous. details inevitably get lost in translation. ugh. hopefully his dialect won't be too strong.
